IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I, Stephen KnowIton Stevens of the Township of Bastard, County of Leeds and Province of Ontario, Yeoman, being of Sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding, and being desirous to Settle my worldly affairs, do make and publish and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking and making null and void all former Wills and testaments at any time heretofore named by me, and my will is first, that all my Just debts, funeral and Testamentary expenses be paid by my Executors hereinafter named. The residue of my Estate and property which Shall not be required for that purpose I give, devise and dispose thereof as follows.

First, I give and devise to my wife Sarah Stevens during her natural lifetime in lieu of all dower which She would have in the Event of her Surviving me, all of the house where I now reside, and the yard in front of the house, being Situated on part of the land I bought from one Israel Hezekiah Stevens by deed bearing date the fifth day of March one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty four, and I also give and bequeath to my wife Sarah Stevens, all my mortgages, notes, Bonds, receipt or deposit receipts, ready money, all my Household furniture, bed and beding [sic] and Covered buggy, and the Sum of twenty five dollars to be paid to her on the first day of January in each and every year by my Son Rufus Israel Stevens, and he Shall care for my wife Sarah Stevens, providing her with good and Sufficient food and other necessarys of life free of charge.

Secondly, I give and devise to my Son Rufus Israel Stevens all and Singular that certain parcel or tract of land and premises Situate lying and being in the Township of Bastard, County of Leeds and province of Ontario, being Composed of a part of lots no. Eighteen and nineteen in the ninth Concession of the Said Township of Bastard Containing one hundred acres of land be the Same more or less, meaning all the land deeded to me by one Israel Hezekiah Stevens by deed bearing date the fifth day of March one thousand Eight Hundred and eighty four (excepting that portion heretofore devised to my wife during her natural life) to have and to hold the Same at my decease unto my Said Son Rufus Israel Stevens, and to his heirs and assigns forever, Subject however to the payment of the following legacies by my Said Son Rufus Israel Stevens, to my daughter Louise Almeda Stevens the Sum of Three hundred dollars payable within four years after my decease, and to my daughter Sarah Bresee, wife of Felix Bresee the Sum of Twenty five dollars, payable within two years after my decease. And to my daughter Malinda Bresee , Widdow [sic] of the late William Bresee the Sum of twenty five dollars payable within Two years after my decease. And also Subject to the payment of heretofore mentioned of the Sum of Twenty five dollars a year to my Wife during her natural lifetime, and also Subject to the provision that my Son Luther Stevens Shall have the privilege of cutting and taking therefrom all the wood and timber on a certain Three acres of land described as follows. that is to Say Situate along the Side line dividing my land from that of one James Barlow, Commencing at the bottom of a Certain hill, running at right angles with Said line, thence along Said line to top of a ledge also running at right angles with Said line, and of Sufficient width to make three acres of land.

Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my Son Rufus Israel Stevens all the rest of my property not heretofore particularly mentioned, including my farm, Stock, farming implements, Horses and Cattle, of whatever nature or kind I may be Entitled to at the time of my decease and, after the death of my wife Sarah Stevens, I give and devise the house and yard So devised to her during her natural life to my Said Son Rufus Israel Stevens, and to his heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my Son Rufus Israel Stevens and Felix F. Fresee both of the Township of Bastard, Executors to this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I the Said Stephen Knowlton Stevens have hereunto Subscribed my Name and affixed my Seal this twenty-Seventy day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and ninety one. To the Surrogate Court of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, The Petition of Rufus Israel Stevens of the Township of Bastard in the County of Leeds and Felix F. Bresee of the same place, Yeoman. Humbly sheweth, that Stephen KnowIton Stevens late of the Township of Bastard in the County of Leeds, Yeoman, deceased died on or about the sixteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one at the township of Bastard in the County of Leeds, and that the said deceased at the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at the township of Bastard in the said County of Leeds. That the said deceased in his life time duly made his last Will and Testament bearing date the twenty seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety one ... That your petitioners are the executors named in said Will. That the value of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased which he in any way died possessed of, or entitled to, and for and in respect to which Probate of the said Will is to be granted, are of or about the value of One thousand one hundred and Three 51100 Dollars to the best of your petitioners' Knowledge and belief, and hat the Real Estate left by deceased is about the value of Five thousand Dollars Dated twenty-third day of November A.D. 1891.
