"Mary SCOTT was the widow of Colonel Joseph SCOTT who was Daniel KNOWLTON's military commander when they fought at the seige of Louisbourg N.S. in 1745.

Joseph SCOTT and Daniel KNOWLTON applied for a land grant, in 1759, for themselves and, as agents, for a number of other planters. Theywere granted 26,000 acres at the head of Cobequid Basin where they organized the Township of Onslow N.S."171
